Cyprus waters cuts lifted but...

Water cuts have been lifted and life is back on track in Cyprus. The dams and rivers look healthy, full and picturesque once more. 

When you have been to the edge and back, you can better understand the need to be responsible. For two years there was such despondency, and such utter helplessness that national exchequer should have to spend so much on importing water.

Even though water is plentiful now, Cypriots are much more careful. People talk about harvesting rain water; sweeping the driveways and wet sponging the cars instead of washing them; running washing machines and dish washers only when full.

Gods cannot be trusted; it takes very little for them to look away. We have to take matters in our own hands and govern our own destiny.

Changing wasteful ways is just a matter of modifying habits and sometimes all it takes is a bolt from the blue!
