Cyprus Name Day Tradition

As if all the other celebrations are not enough, Cypriots celebrate their name day which is the day of the Saint that they were named after (as they nearly always are). It is a big day for them of feasting, being visited by family and friends and receiving gifts. So though it might be difficult to remember birthdays of friends, name days are easier. The moment you know it is your friend Andreas' name day for example, you know you have to wish all the Andreas, Androullas, Andys etc.
