Returning Cypriots

One very striking feature of Cyprus is its young professionals who go abroad to acquire higher professional degrees and return to their homeland to take up jobs and serve their country. I personally know several accountants, lawyers, engineers, teachers, management graduates and doctors who left Cyprus for higher education and to do professional courses in England and the USA and came back to Cyprus.

What motivates this section of Cypriot society in foregoing perhaps greener pastures abroad and live and work in Cyprus is not just love for their motherland but also an urge to contribute to the growth of services sector and higher education in Cyprus.

In the Cypriot society the familial, social and emotional bonds are so strong that these young people are drawn back magnetically to their roots.

Some of these young men and women have also married while abroad with non-Cypriots and their spouses have adopted to Cypriot lifestyle and family values with great ease.

This young, highly educated and energetic segment of Cypriots definitely make Cyprus proud of them.
