Cyprus has some of the most luxurious hotels and retreats in the Mediterranean. But here I have listed some of the hotels that are my personal favorites. I live here so I know only the hotels where we have spent some weekends and vacations and I would really like to hear from those who come for vacations or adventure about their choice of hotels.

Thanos Hotel, Anassa - Polis

This is perhaps one of the most luxurious hotel resorts on the island and experience is one of pampering yourself. Set in the beautiful Akamas peninsula on the west coast, this deluxe five star hotel has its rooms and facilities planned with an eye for detail and the general atmosphere is one of easy luxury.

Jubilee Hotel, Troodos

The Jubilee Hotel is the highest hotel in Troodos Mountain range. There is nothing exclusive about the hotel as such, a wooden structure a few yards off the Troodos square except its proximity to the ski slopes. But staying here for a night in winters is an unforgettable warm experience. As it snows outside, you can sit next to one of the many roaring fireplaces in the hotel living room and enjoy the many board games stored by the hotel over steaming cups of tea and cocoa. Meals served are traditional Cypriot and great.

The Mill Hotel, Kakopetria

In the heart of the picturesque village of Kakopetria, on the banks of river Karkotis, The Mill hotel gets its name from the 17th century mill it is built on. The mill is seeped in history and has many folk tales associated with it. The hotel has been able to preserve the ambience of the times 3 centuries ago while also making it very modern with all the amenities. The perpetual sound of the bubbling brook, the old stone building, the terraces looking out on the spectacular view of the valley and meals prepared by freshly picked fruits and vegetables from the mountainside, make it a great escape from the stresses of urban life.

Forest Park Hotel, Platres

This is another beautiful hotel with a sprawling campus covering many acres of the breathtaking Platres mountain side. The visitor does not feel the need to go out of the hotel, complete as it is with lovely terraces, swimming pools, tennis courts and small treks. Again the difference is in a very personalised hotel experience. The chef takes trouble to talk to you to customise the menu to suit your needs and the owner does not forget to proudly display his excellent vintage cars.
