Morning Walk
It is that time of the year again. Weather is beautiful, just the right temperature. The sea is playful, now calm, now mischievous. And the hundreds of sea gulls make it like a scene straight out of a tourism booklet. A walk on the sea front is just the perfect way to start a sunny day in December.
It is still a painful decision to go for a walk in the morning; there are many things more important that need to be done. But once you do go, it is worth the time and the effort. It is a treat for your mind and your lungs apart from everything else.
It takes less than a week to identify the regulars, some in groups, and some by themselves. There are lots of senior citizen groups sitting at the cafes already. You have been welcomed to the regulars club. Most people recognise and nod, wave or greet. It is not only the people who are walking, jogging and swimming but also the ones waiting at the bus stop or walking to the office.
Limassol promenade and the walking track that goes from it to the tourist area has undergone a complete transformation in the past few years and is a safe and perfect track to walk. At the promenade the regulars include the busy municipal workers cleaning, trimming, watering and tending the area.
The sea is beautiful. Many ships dot the horizon and the beach is peppered with the brave ones in the sea and some walking up and down.
It is embarrassing to see that while you are well kitted in your fleece and still sniffling with the chilly winter air, there are men and women twice your age in the sea and swimming. Another resolution to the long list already. Have to keep up this routine everyday and be fit to play with your grandchildren.
