Good times last here

It is possible to get so used to the perfect weather in Cyprus, that you forget it is not the same everywhere else in the world. It is only when you go elsewhere and are forced to spend most of your time indoors because it is too hot or too cold or too rainy that you remember to send a silent upwards that in Cyprus nearly every single day throughout the year you can be outdoors. Weather is never the limiting factor in what you want to do. Children can actually play on real pitches and real beaches and when you go for a walk it is not on a treadmill but on real earth with real sky overhead. Even when it does get a bit hot for two months in summer and you are not a heat person, options are easy and real. You can join the others on the many beaches or drive less than hour to go to the cooler mountains or just accept the neighbor's invitation and join his family for a traditional meal in the village surrounded by olive groves and fruit orchards.It is an incredible motivation to start the day. When you open the curtains in the morning and feel the cool breeze on your face and see a smiling sun, you go out with a spring in your step. And even more perfect is to be able to end the day with a meal under a cloudless sky and the stars, overlooking the calm shimmering sea. It is possible to pursue almost any sport – football, tennis, golf,rugby, cricket, athletics. And even adventure sports like sailing,windsurfing, paragliding, rock climbing, trekking, and hiking.As the weather is so predictable and reliable, planning events takes much less effort. Outdoor parties, picnics, sports events are more prolific and spontaneous. Even theatre has taken a whole new dimension. I wait every year for the summer production of Shakespeare under the stars at The Curium Amphitheatre. The great playwright himself could not have asked for a more perfect setting. Sitting on the stone steps of an ancient amphitheatre, under the open sky,against the tranquil Mediterranean, Shakespearean plays take on a whole new meaning.
