The Human Side of life in Cyprus
I have often been humbled by the greatness of Cypriots. Last month my 70 year old neighbor donated one of her kidneys to her ailing older brother. I was astounded by what I thought was a prime example of filial relationship especially considering their age. Her courage and the unassuming grace with which she went about it like it was the most normal thing in the world to do. It was the ultimate lesson in humility for me. Cyprus is now a member of European Union - and there is a lot in family values, Cypriots could teach their fellow Europeans. In France or Germany, the old man would have languished in an old age home somewhere and died quietly one day. Not here. They love life and value it.
