About Me

My name is Vandana Goyal and I have been living in Cyprus with my family for more than twelve years.

Cyprus is at the crossroads of civilizations. Or shall we say shipping routes of civilizations ! Since antiquity, Cyprus has been an important destination and transit point for people of all lands. It is still the case today. We have made friends with many nationalities. People keep coming and going. As a result we not only have friends in Cyprus, but all over the world.

Lives of all these people, like my own, have been touched and shaped by their stay in Cyprus. In this web site I record my emotional experiences and anecdotes of how life is in this wonderful island. Cyprus has a spiritual affect on people - I feel life in Cyprus makes people calmer and more appreciative of the wonders and bounty of life and nature.

Like my Cypriot friends remind me all the time- I am a Cypriot-Indian. Each day is a memorable experience. We participate in family celebrations of our Cypriot friends and they fondly attempt to teach me everything Cypriot - from the language, to jokes, to their cooking and their way of life. And they participate in our Indian festivals like Diwali, with great enthusiasm. They have all become experts on Indian curries.

I hardly need to emphasize that all the experiences I have recorded are my own and all these opinions are very personal.
